First shooting day 📸🎥

On this day, we plan to film all of the shots that's in the bedroom set (Location 1: New House City, Quoc Oai)

Me and Hanh Linh - The art director meet up earlier at 11am to set up bedroom.

• We had to change the original curtain into a stick curtain that fits better with the film's theme and also to ensure that An's curtain stays safe and sound because we have to splatter blood everywhere.

• However, we encountered a problem when we realized that the curtain is too short for the window. Although we have measured the window's width and length on before buying the curtain, the length of the curtain was not as long as said on the website. Thus, when we put the curtain on, there is a large exposed area under it that shows too much light.

• Then, we had to improvise by putting paintings under the curtain to block light.

• Additionally, we also change the bed sheets so that we don't dirty An's own bed sheets.

• We then blow dried it to prevent the blood from permeating the bed sheet into the bed.

You might notice that the set seem quite dark for a scene in the morning. This is because even though we planned to meet at 12pm, due to some personal difficulties, An - the actor and also the one with the mission to bring the equipments had to arrive later than expected. Thus our filming process got delayed, so by the time we got to that shot, it was already dark outside. Moreover, although the school gave us 2 lights, only one of them worked. Therefore, we had to work with only 1 key light, so we couldn't provide a backlight to the subject. However, to prevent the main character blending in with the background, we had her wearing a dark brown outfit which is opposite to the white wall. Nonetheless, with only 1 key light and no sunlight, our light appeared more cool-toned and hence gave a feeling of the moonlight rather than in the day. So, we inevitably had to add another filming date to re-film all of the failed shots, which is on the 1st of February.

Although we didn't work very efficiently on this day, but we had fun experiencing filming at the set, and also learned some lessons on what to fix through those failed footages (camera angles, light placements, how to make the blood more vivid on camera,...) so we could do better and more efficiently on the other days!
